Introducing Sticky Shorts: The Ones You Warned Them About
With their first official music video and forthcoming debut mini album Monsters, Sticky Shorts step into view with a sound shaped by desire, memory, gay life and the people who taught them how to exist outside the rules. Their first official music video, “The Ones You Warned Them About,” arrives as both an opening statement and a warning of what is still to come. Dark, intimate and deliberately confrontational, the track offers the first glimpse into Monsters, the band’s forthcoming debut mini album.
Working across different places and personal histories, with rehearsals taking place between Seoul and Germany and the recording bringing the members together in Lefkada, Sticky Shorts are less interested in presenting a polished origin story than in creating a world of their own. Their music draws from post-punk, indie rock and darker alternative sounds, but its real centre lies in the experiences underneath them: desire, shame, loyalty, scandal, memory and the unofficial forms of care that exist outside conventional ideas of family and respectability.
“The Ones You Warned Them About” captures that tension immediately. Its title turns suspicion into identity, reclaiming the figure of the person others have already decided is dangerous, excessive or wrong. Rather than asking to be accepted, the song occupies that position openly. It is music about being watched without becoming smaller, about refusing to disappear simply because visibility makes other people uncomfortable. That refusal runs throughout Monsters. Across seven tracks, the record moves through gay adolescence, night spaces, lust, chosen community and the marks left by people who taught us how to survive before we had the language to explain what we were surviving.
