THE CLIMATE BREAKDOWN

Climate change is often discussed through data, forecasts, and political debate. In THE CLIMATE BREAKDOWN, Sepehr Badiei approaches it through image and poetry instead.

Created in collaboration with a diverse group of creatives, the project presents a surreal vision of a world living through environmental uncertainty. Moving between beauty and unease, the photographs and texts explore humanity's relationship with the natural world and the emotional realities that accompany ecological change.

Sepehr Badiei is an Iranian–Egyptian artist based in East London. Raised in Aotearoa New Zealand after migrating as a refugee, their multidisciplinary practice combines photography, hair, textiles, found objects, and performance to explore themes of identity, power, belonging, and social systems.

Their work often merges the personal with the political, using surreal and symbolic imagery to examine contemporary issues through a deeply human lens.

Poem

Wildfires smear

            horizon red

Floods cross the margins

        Drought cracks the pages open

Time is not running out

          It has already broken open

The fight for climate is the light for liberation.

          & it belongs to all”

- Sepehr Badiei
